The 55 2nd series to 59 model Chevy short stepside beds originally had the 3rd cross sill that is different from the other two cross sills. The outer end of the 3rd sill is formed upward to provide clearance under the sill and outward from the frame. Your truck suspension may or may not require that special cross sill.
